Sharjah Police steps up patrols around schools as new academic year begins
Mobile operations room activated to monitor traffic during peak hours, while dedicated 901 service receives school-related traffic and security enquiries
Sharjah: Sharjah Police have intensified patrols and traffic monitoring around schools as students returned for the 2026–2027 academic year on Monday.
Under the slogan ‘Safety is Our First Lesson’, Sharjah Police General Command said it had rolled out an integrated security, traffic, community awareness and media plan aimed at ensuring a safe and smooth start to the school year.
The measures cover Sharjah city as well as the Central and Eastern regions, with increased police presence and traffic monitoring around schools.
A mobile operations room has also been activated to monitor traffic conditions during peak periods, allowing teams to respond quickly to congestion and other situations that could affect students and road users.
Dedicated 901 service
Sharjah Police have allocated a dedicated service through the 901 call centre to receive security- and traffic-related comments and enquiries concerning schools.
The service is aimed at ensuring issues are addressed quickly while providing parents and other members of the community with a direct channel to the police.
School safety awareness
Police teams are also conducting visits and programmes in schools to raise awareness of road safety and other security issues.
Sharjah Police have also activated the ‘Ma’man’ platform in cooperation with the Sharjah Private Education Authority to follow up on reports involving students and school buses.
The initiative is being supported by an awareness campaign featuring videos, designs and safety messages aimed at different age groups.
Sharjah Police said the combined field, awareness and media efforts form part of its proactive approach to enhancing school security and strengthening community partnerships, with the aim of providing students with a safe and organised return to school.
