Long weekend confirmed: Which UAE public holidays are still left in 2026?

After the August 28 break for the Prophet's Birthday, residents will have just one more official holiday before the year ends

Dubai: The UAE government has just announced the official public holiday for the Prophet's [PBUH] Birthday, which will be observed on Friday, August 28.

This means that UAE residents will be able to enjoy a long weekend right before schools come back in session on August 31, after the two-month summer break.

After this, though, you will have to wait for a few months for the next public holiday, which will be the last one for the year.

UAE National Day (Two-day holiday)

The last long holiday for the year will be for Eid Al Etihad – the UAE National Day – where residents will enjoy a two-day break from Wednesday, December 2 to Thursday, December 3.

So, you can expect a good mid-week break in the last month of the year.

With 2026 coming to an end, residents will also enjoy a long weekend to start off 2027, as January 1, which is an official holiday under Cabinet Resolution No. (27) of 2024, falls on a Friday.

For those with a Saturday-Sunday weekend, this means an extended holiday at the start of 2027.
